Incorporating work and play in this garden transformation in Sandhurst, Berkshire.

Creating a stunning garden transformation in Sandhurst.

In 2021, Oakston Solutions created this stunning garden transformation in Sandhurst, Berkshire. This family of four would be using the space as a hub for business and pleasure. Therefore, it was important to ensure that each section was easy to maintain, safely curated and beautifully presented.

The specification.

  • Porceline Patio
  • Oakston Office Pod with James Hardie Cladding
  • Pergoda with TV and Sound System
  • Sleeper Plant with slatted fence
  • Artificial Grass

In the beginning.

When beginning this project, the team began by removing a double bay garage. Whereas, this removed a covered area for cars. It hugely increased the overall footprint of the garden allowing more space in which to create the sections required.

The porcelain patio and artificial grass.

The family decided to proceed with a beautiful, highly durable porcelain tile for the patio area. As these are highly resistant to wear and are more moisture resistant than some of their counterparts. Furthermore, as the footfall would be high, it provided a great robust solution.

In addition, artificial grass was added to ensure a safe, low maintenance section which could be used by the whole family. The specially designs backing not only keeps out weeds but enables moisture to drain away quickly without creating soggy or muddy areas.

Sleeper planting with slatted fence.

Slatted wall and sleeper plants

As a working family it was important to include some raised sleeper beds to create a planting area for the whole family to tend to. This area provided a variety of plants that could be looked after and tended to by the little ones without the need for too much time to be spent. The railway sleeper raised bed not only served as a wall for the garden, but it also allows the soil to retain the water completely. Allowing the plants to absorb the water and nutrients easily.

Pergoda with TV and sound.

A lively garden is not complete without a seating area. The client opted for a pergoda with a covered roof. This ensured the area could be used all year round. Furthermore, it provided an entertainment area for both adults and children with the addition of a television and speaker system. Additionally, including some stylish heat lamps and lighting meant that even during Autumn and Winter nights, this area would be beautifully lit up.

Garden Pod.

Office Pod

Finally, our client would also be using it to work from home. To provide the additional space required they chose on of our office pods. The pods include aluminum bi-fold doors and windows. It also included full insulation, LED multi-coloured lighting and underfloor heating with a laminate floor finish.

The modern and sleek design meant it was in keeping with the surrounding areas, and looked very much in the right place for the design of the garden.
